One of Dekalb County's newest incorporated cities, Tucker lies approximately 15 miles northeast of Atlanta's downtown area. This significant and historic community is among the largest in Georgia. Main Street, the heart of downtown Tucker, is seven miles from a handful of neighboring cities and is well known for its vibrant outdoor events that play a vital role in the life of its residents and various organizations. It is also where Discover DeKalb is based, an entity dedicated to promoting the attractions of DeKalb County to tourists.
Aside from being home to the seven Tucker Cluster schools, Tucker has been on the map and in the hearts of residents for over a century. As such, the Tucker Farmers Market is a central feature of the community, where local farmers and artisans come together to offer fresh produce and unique arts and crafts. This bustling market is open every Thursday from early April 5 through mid-December and welcomes visitors from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
As an indicator of the wonderful things to come, Northlake Mall, which has been a staple for the Tucker, Decatur, Stone Mountain, and Northlake communities, has recently undergone numerouse changes and renovations. Its convenient location, accessible from I-285 and nestled between LaVista Road and Northlake Parkway on Briarcliff Road, makes it a popular and ever-evolving shopping destination.
